The problem with a lot of the products available is that they contain poisons, such as Diazinon, that will kill the unwanted pests, but will also put contaminants into your soil.

When a poison like Diazinon kills the grubs, it brings them to the surface where song birds will come and eat them, this killing the song bird as well. When the grubs come to the surface, they can also come into contact with family members & pets. In short, it's not a product we like to see used by homeowners.

• Try Milky Spore for a more natural Solution
• Many lawn and garden centers also carry a product called Milky Spore Powder, This is a natural bacteria that is deadly for Japanese Beetles and Lawn Grubs. It is harmless for birds, pets, and humans. An added benefit to using this is that moles feed on lawn grubs and Japanese Beetles. Once their food source is gone, they will be as well! Another benefit is that it normally lasts for 7 - 10 years.
• When you purchase Milky Spore, make sure that you also purchase one of the application tools, which is a tube shaped applicator about 36" long Step 4
• Load your applicator ram it into the ground in a 36" X 36" pattern, covering the entire surface of your lawn. This is best applied in the spring, but can be used throughout the entire lawn growing season.
• Milky Spore does take a bit of time to work its way through your lawn, so be patient. If If you have a very severe infestation, one growing season may not be enough time to get rid of all the grubs and Japanese Beetles.
